About Greenpoint

Greenpoint sits at the northern tip of Brooklyn, surrounded by the East River and Newtown Creek. The neighborhood retains its Polish heritage — you'll still find pierogi shops and Polish bakeries along Manhattan Avenue — while a wave of artists and young professionals has brought craft cocktail bars, indie boutiques, and excellent coffee shops. The waterfront parks (Transmitter Park, WNYC Transmitter Park) offer Manhattan skyline views without Williamsburg's crowds. McCarren Park straddles the border with Williamsburg, hosting summer concerts and a popular pool. The G train is the main transit option — no direct Manhattan service, which keeps Greenpoint slightly more affordable and mellow than its southern neighbor. The NYC Ferry at India Street provides a scenic alternative.

Greenpoint nightlife is laid-back and local. Franklin Street has wine bars and cocktail spots, while Manhattan Avenue has dive bars with Polish beers. McCarren Park hosts outdoor concerts in summer. It's quieter than Williamsburg but still lively on weekends.
